Rainbow Bagels

A rainy day after school treat for the kids! I made up some 'paint' using milk and a couple of drops of food colouring. Using brand new and washed paintbrushes they turned their bagels into rainbows. They tasted delicious too; although the baby got pretty carried away and no amount of toasting could get rid of the sogginess!

Rain doesn't stop play!

Not in Hobbsy's house anyway. It's been a miserable couple of weeks but we've found no shortage of things to do. Den building is a big hit with everybody including me - easy to set up and tidy away.

Painting with marbles: find a tray or shallow box, line it with paper and roll a paint covered marble around to your heart's content.

We also made 'sensory' playdoh by adding some herbs from the garden, the kids loved this and were fascinated by the lovely smells.

Making a bus or a train out of some chairs is another easy game to set up and can last for ages - the kids made up some 'tickets' and we sang Wheels on the Bus and The Runaway Train over and over. And over again. Oh and, of course, there's always dressing up!

Pasg Hapus/Happy Easter!

It's been a busy Easter Holidays so far at Hobbsy's House, we've had an Easter Egg Hunt, made some chocolate crispy nests with chocolate eggs, painted some eggs using the very cool salad spinner technique posted on my favourite blog The Imagination Tree ; and I put together a Spring/Easter 'Sensory Box' with some coloured rice. As you can see by the blurred hands in the photo this was very successful as children aged between 2 and 12 got stuck in!
